Cancellations/Absences:

• 24-hour notice of any cancellation is required to be eligible for a make-up lesson.
• Only 1 lesson per semester is allowed to be missed, with proper notice of cancellation. This missed lesson will be made up within the semester or at the end of each semester. Any missed lessons that occur outside of these boundaries will be made up at the teacher’s discretion.
• If any lesson is missed due to the teacher’s absence, every effort will be made to make up the lesson on a day/time that is convenient to both the teacher and student.
• Make-up lessons will not roll over into the following semester.

Lesson Etiquette:

• Gum chewing is prohibited in any and all violin/viola playing.
• Please knock when your allotted lesson time arrives, as sometimes I can lose track of time during the previous student’s lesson. Thanks!
• Students are expected to remain standing for the duration of the lesson unless they are in a chamber music or orchestral setting.
• Please be courteous of other students having their lessons as you enter the studio space.
• I require all cell phones to be turned off, or at least in silent mode. I ask that all persons in the room refrain from taking phone calls. If you need to take a call, please be courteous and take the call outside.

Practice Policy:

• Each student is expected to practice at least 5 days a week at home for the allotted time of his or her weekly lesson. For example: If your lesson lasts 30 minutes, practice time should consist of 30 minutes, 5 days out of each week.
• To help keep track of this, you can:
• Set a cell phone or oven timer at the beginning of each practice session.
• Keep a log of the days and times you practice in your notebook.
• Jot down what material you practiced within each session.
• Break up your practice time to shorter segments of time, twice a day.

Please bring any questions, comments, and concerns to me at any time. I always welcome phone calls and emails throughout the week in order to help you make the most of the entire violin/viola playing experience at home as well as in the studio. If at any time you feel as though I am moving too quickly through any material, or if you feel under-challenged, I want you to feel comfortable enough to tell me so we can remedy the situation as quickly as possible. violin&case
